Hugh Jackman Workout Plan + How He Stayed Lean

October 1st, 2010 Hugh Jackman Workout No comments

Hugh Jackman turned some major heads in his role for Wolverine. Although he wasn’t in bad condition before hand, the amount of muscle mass he added whilst staying super lean shocked many.

Like all superheros, it was vital that Hugh looked incredibly ripped for his role. Below is a detailed plan of how he did it:

He did 2 phases of training- Gaining muscle phase and strength training. Each phase lasted for 6 weeks.

In order to gain muscle mass (gaining muscle phase), Hugh’s trainer made him perform his reps 3 seconds up, 1 second down tempo. This limited the amount of weight he lifted but also helped him gain lean muscle mass.

The strength training was all about lifting as heavy as possible. Form was obviously still important, but the goal was just to move the most amount of weight humanely possible.

Combined with this style of training (which he alternated), Hugh had to increase his calories. You can’t gain weight without eating more. He consumed lots of high protein meals like steak, beef, chicken, tuna, salmon and protein shakes.

The second part of the Hugh Jackman workout which should be mentioned is how he stayed lean. This was the difference between him looking good and looking amazing!

In order to look super ripped, on the last week of each phase of training, Hugh would only lift once per week and for the rest of the time he would perform interval cardio workouts. These workouts were super intense and they would help to burn off any fat that he gained in the previous weeks.

If you want to look muscular but also super shredded then stick to Hugh’s approach. He gained solid muscle mass through mass gaining and strength training workouts but stayed lean by eating right and doing intense interval training.

Hugh Jackman Workout- 5 Tips For Adding Muscle

August 18th, 2010 Hugh Jackman Workout No comments

Below is some nutrition rules for insane muscle growth. Whether you are focusing on doing the Hugh Jackman workout over and over, or whether you are doing Vince’s training, proper nutrition is vital for gaining size.

1. Eat a lot of good calories. This may sound obvious, but so many people complain because they aren’t growing in size yet continue to eat like a mouse. If you want to get big and jacked, then the calories need to add up.

A good rule of thumb is to eat 20 calories per pound of body weight. So if you are 150 pounds and you want to build up, then you should consume 3000 calories per day of good foods. Aim for 5 pounds of muscle mass per month. If you aren’t gaining that much, eat more. If you are gaining too much fat, eat less.

2. Don’t be afraid of eating fats. Low fat diets often decrease your test levels dramatically. Aim for about 20-30% of your calories coming form good fats. Such as olive oil, cottage cheese, peanut butter, salmon, nuts and red meat.

3. Eat good carbs. About a gram per pound of body weight. This will give you energy to pound through the day and workout to your full potential. Stick with good carbs like brown rice, oatmeal and potatoes.

4. Cut back on the alcohol. Yup I know that can be tough for some of us, but drinking and working out are polar opposites. All your efforts are being considerably harmed if you are constantly going out and drinking. You need to ask yourself what is more important? Drinking or looking amazing?

You don’t have to give up alcohol forever, but just while you are bulking up hard, its good to leave it out.

5. After your workout, stock up on carbs and protein. After your workout is a great time for eating a huge meal and delivering nutrients right to the depleted energy sources. Take advantage of this time and aim for 80 grams of carbs and 40 grams of protein. Some of my favorite meals include steak, tuna or chicken combined with a lage amount of pasta. YUM!

Now that you have some more information, go out there and start working out hard. My advice would be to perform the Hugh Jackman Workout routine from time to time for fun, but concentrate on Vince’s training for long term success.

Just like any form of weight training routine, the Hugh Jackman Workout requires a lot of energy and intensity. If you are not eating right whilst doing this kind of training you are simply not going to get the results that you are hoping for.

Eg. To look like Hugh Jackman!

To create this kind of physique you need to overload your metabolism to ensure that you gain weight and muscle.

Here are a couple of rules to look like the x men Hugh Jackman.

1. Double up your eating. When you go to the kitchen to eat some eggs and bread, instead of having 3 eggs and 2 pieces of toast, grab 6 eggs and 4 pieces of toast. See whilst this will be hard to start with, you need the extra calories to put on weight. Besides you are only a few meals eat day away from gaining good size, so just go for it.

2. Live around your food. Do you think that Hugh looked so good in x men and wolverine because he ate a huge amount of food or not? Obviously because he did. Make sure that you are eating every 2-3 hours to gain weight. Use a timer if you have to. Also ensure that you eat a solid meal when waking up within the first 15-30 minutes. Breakfast is one of the most important meals so make sure you start the day the right way.

3. Never train hungry. Do you really think that you will be able to lift heavy weights and preform at your best on at empty stomach? Whether you are performing Hugh Jackman’s routine or another one, eating right beofre hand is super important. Not only that, but being hungry during a workout increases the risk of injury.

4. Have a carb loaded shake during your workout. Something like “Sizeon” or powerade or even just a simple protein shake.

5. Eat the right foods. Foods like oatmeal, steak, chicken breast, beef, brown rice, brown bread, olive oil, cottage cheese, fruit and veggies and beans.

Once you have your eating right, you have won half the battle to getting big and ripped.

In the next article I will show you the complete Hugh Jackman Workout Routine.

I remember seeing this picture of Hugh Jackman during the promo tour of Wolverine and just being absolutely astonished with the amount of muscle and definition that he had packed on. The next day I printed this out and stuck it on my wall for motivation. So that every time I didn’t feel like working out or didn’t want to drink another protein shake, I could look at Hugh and it would remind me of why I was putting in the hard work.

Sometimes things as simple as putting a picture on a wall can make all the difference.

Adding Muscle For The Skinny Guy

August 12th, 2010 Hugh Jackman Workout No comments

Most people believe that if you are naturally skinny then you won’t ever be able to be big and muscled up. However that is simply not the case. Not matter how small you are when starting out, with the right training and diet, you can create a fantastic body.

Perhaps even rivaling Hugh Jackman in Wolverine :)

There are several basic rules which you need to incorporate if you want to build muscle. Hugh Jackman workout and diet.

1. You are what you eat. Don’t except to gain lots of lean muscle, no matter how hard you workout at the gym, if you are constantly consuming foods like pizza and chips and drinking alcohol. It just doesn’t work. You have to be more strict with your eating. Foods such as lean chicken breast, lean beef, brown rice, protein shakes, oatmeal and fish should become the staple of your diet. These foods will not only help you look better, but you will also feel better too. In any kind of workout routine (including Hugh Jackman’s workout routine) you must aim to eat 22 calories per pound of body weight per day. For example if you are 150 pounds and you want to gain muscle mass then you need to start consuming 3300 calories of good foods each day. This will give you enough energy to perform the exercises at a high level, whilst also allowing you to increase your weight.

2. The Hugh Jackman workout revolves around a lot of compound lifts. Compound lifts are simply exercises that are targeted to your major body parts. Such as your quads, back, chest etc. These exercises include the bench press, squat, dead lift and leg press. They are fantastic for creating large hormone spikes in the body and help you to gain muscle faster. Hugh Jackman didn’t create his physique by doing dumbbell curls, he trained his major body parts and so should you.

Bottom line, if you start to eat the right foods in large quantities and ensure that you do the right exercises with proper form, you will start to transform your body very quickly. Best of luck
